Job summary

Children's Hospital of The King's Daughters (CHKD) is seeking a licensed APRN or PA with pediatric or family specialization to provide patient care under physician supervision. The role includes hospital rounds, procedures for inpatients and office patients, and trauma patient care, with supervision and ongoing staff education.

Ideal candidates have CPR, PALS, ATLS training (or ability to obtain within 90 days) and 3–5 years of pediatric experience.

Qualifications

  • Current State license as an APRN or PA with Family or Pediatrics specialization.
  • CPR, PALS and ATLS training required and/or must be obtained within 90 days of hire.
  • Three to five years pediatric experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Engages in medical practice under supervision of licensed physician.
  • Performs patient care activities and accommodative services during inpatient stay and for office patients.
  • Provides office visits under supervision and within scope of practice.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Summary
  • Works under continuous supervision and clinical guidance of the practice physician(s). Responsibilities include hospital rounds, performing procedures for inpatients and office patients, and care of trauma patients. Demonstrates excellence in practice characterized by quality patient care and participation in formal and informal patient and staff education. Reports to supervising physician(s) and designated manager.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Engages in the practices constituting the practice of medicine in collaboration with and under the medical direction and supervision of a licensed physician.
  • Performs a wide variety of patient care activities and accommodative services to support the medical practice and our patients/families throughout the inpatient hospital stay, with effective utilization of healthcare resources.
  • Provides office visits under supervision and within scope of practice.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
LICENSES AND/OR CERTIFICATIONS
  • Current State license as an APRN or PA with specialization in Family or Pediatrics.
  • CPR, PALS and ATLS training required and/or must be obtained within 90 days of hire.
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
  • Must provide record of a completed diploma (or equivalent) or academic transcript for those areas performing complexity testing.
  • Three to five years of pediatric experience preferred.
WORKING CONDITIONS
  • Expected to work in a patient care environment with minimal exposure to environmental hazards such as, but not limited to, excessive noise, dust, or extremes in temperatures. Exposure to communicable diseases and moderately adverse working conditions due to the need to perform certain patient care activities can be expected.
