Job summary

UnityPoint Health – Blank Children’s Endocrinology is hiring a Registered Nurse for a full-time/part-time outpatient role. You will educate and coordinate care for pediatric patients with endocrine disorders in a collaborative team.

Responsibilities include teaching families, documenting care in the EHR, coordinating referrals, and supporting procedures and tests under physician supervision. BLS is required, and Iowa RN licensure is essential.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program or IA Board-approved program.
• Current licensure to practice as a Registered Nurse in Iowa.
• Must possess and maintain BLS certification or obtain within three months from hire date.

Responsibilities

• Answer questions and provide teaching to patients and families within scope and licensure.
• Document information in the patient’s electronic chart.
• Complete patient forms and requests medical records for EHR scanning.
• Schedule referrals with specialists or outpatient services as requested by the provider.
• Prepare forms or requisitions for referrals or labs.
• Assist provider with examinations, procedures and emergencies.
• Provide home care advice and follow-up calls as directed.
• Perform diagnostic tests and laboratory procedures.
• Assist with examinations, specimen collection, minor procedures and medication administration under supervision.
• Prioritize patient and workplace safety and report concerns immediately.
• Understand lab values and take appropriate next steps per scope and licensure.
• Demonstrate initiative to improve quality and customer service and meet department schedule.
