Mission or Goal of Unit:

The Division of PediatricEndocrinology and Metabolism at the Children’s Hospital of Richmond(CHoR) at Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) is recruiting apediatric endocrinologist at the Assistant or Associate professorlevel. The Division manages the Center for Endocrinology, Diabetesand Metabolism, the region’s most comprehensive program forchildren with diabetes and other endocrine disorders, as well asthe Healthy Lifestyles Center, the region’s most comprehensivepediatric obesity treatment and research center. The divisionoffers outstanding, evidence-based medical care, medical nutritiontherapy, psychological support, education, and support groups.Division faculty have a robust research portfolio, which includesboth extramurally-funded research and industry sponsored clinicaltrials, making the division a leader in advancing obesity anddiabetes-related research. The Division supports an accreditedPediatric Endocrinology and Metabolism Fellowship Program and anObesity Medicine Fellowship program, a robust clinical service, anda multidisciplinary research program focused on childhood obesity,diabetes, and endocrine disorders. The unit is committed toexcellence in patient care, education, research, and communityservice while fostering an inclusive and diverse environment. Thesuccessful candidate must be Board Certified or Board Eligible inpediatric endocrinology, and eligible for appointment at Assistantor Associate professor level.

Chief Purpose of this Position in Support of Above Mission orGoal:

To provide expert clinical care in PediatricEndocrinology, contribute to the education and mentorship oflearners, participate in scholarly and research activities, andsupport departmental, institutional, and professional serviceinitiatives. The faculty member will help advance the Division’smission of excellence in clinical care, education, research, andcommunity engagement.

Responsibilities:

Clinical

Provide comprehensive, evidence-based clinical care as aPediatric Endocrinologist within the Center for Endocrinology,Diabetes and Metabolism and Children’s Hospital of Richmond atVCU
Deliver inpatient and outpatient endocrine services forchildren and adolescents
Participate in after-hours, weekend, and call coverage asappropriate
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including dietitians,diabetes educators, nurse navigators, social workers,psychologists, and other specialists

Teaching

Provide teaching and mentorship to medical students, residents,chief residents, fellows, and advanced practice providers
Support the Division's fellowship training programs inPediatric Endocrinology and Obesity Medicine
Participate in formal and informal educational activitieswithin the Department of Pediatrics
Foster a positive learning environment
Support the Division's fellowship training programs inPediatric Endocrinology and Obesity Medicine

Research and Scholarship

Participate in clinical, translational, and/or outcomesresearchDemonstrate working knowledge of basic researchmethodologies
Collaborate with multidisciplinary research teams focused onchildhood obesity, type 1 diabetes, type 2 diabetes, and endocrinedisorders
Contribute to scholarly activity including abstracts,manuscripts, presentations, and clinical trials

Service and Professional Contributions

Minimum Qualifications:

M.D., D.O., or equivalent medical degree
Completion of an accredited Pediatric Residency Program
Completion of an accredited Pediatric Endocrinology FellowshipProgram
Board Certified or Board Eligible in PediatricEndocrinology
Eligibility for medical licensure in the Commonwealth ofVirginia
Active Drug Enforcement Agency Licensure
Credentialing at VCUH is required
Experience in the clinical care of pediatric endocrinepatients
Demonstrated teaching ability and commitment to medicaleducation
Working knowledge of basic research methods and ability toparticipate in clinical, translational, and/or outcomesresearch
Excellent interpersonal, communication, and collaborativeskills
Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary healthcareteams
Commitment to patient-centered care, academic medicine, andprofessional service
Demonstrated ability to work in and foster an environment ofrespect, professionalism and civility with a population of faculty,staff, and students from all backgrounds and experiences, or acommitment to do so as a faculty member.

Preferred Qualifications:

Prior academic faculty experience
Experience supervising and mentoring residents, fellows, andmedical students
Experience participating in clinical trials and funded researchprograms
Record of scholarly activity including publications,presentations, or grant participation
Experience in multidisciplinary diabetes and obesity managementprograms
Demonstrated leadership experience within academic medicine orprofessional organizations
Experience working within a children's hospital or academicmedical center setting
Interest in advancing fellowship training programs andexpanding research initiatives
