Job summary

St. Luke's University Health Network invites a Board Certified/Eligible Fellowship-Trained Pediatric Emergency Medicine physician to join the team at St. Luke's Children’s Hospital Pediatric Emergency Department in Bethlehem, PA.

The role offers 11 AM–9 PM shifts with ongoing plans toward 24/7 coverage, malpractice coverage, and 24/7 pediatric nursing support. The ED serves a large patient population with expanding capacity and resident teaching opportunities.

Qualifications

• Must be board-certified/eligible fellowship-trained PEM physician.
• Shifts are 11 AM to 9 PM (10 hours) with goal of 24/7 coverage.
• Malpractice coverage provided.
• Pediatric trained nurses are available 24/7.
• 6-bed unit expanding to 10 beds in Fall 2026.
• EM resident support for all PEM shifts.

Responsibilities

• Provide pediatric emergency medicine care in a high-volume ED.
• Collaborate with pediatric subspecialists and EMS as needed.
• Support and supervise EM residents during PEM shifts.

Position Overview:

• Current shifts are 11 AM to 9 PM (10 hour) and we are working towards the goal of 24/7 coverage
• Malpractice coverage provided
• Pediatric trained nurses are available 24/7
• 6-bed unit expanding to 10 beds in Fall 2026
• EM resident support for all PEM shifts

About the St. Lukes Childrens Hospital:

• The Pediatric Emergency Department at St. Lukes Childrens Hospital is a 6-bed unit (currently undergoing an expansion project to 10 beds) providing care to over 10,000 children per year.
• St. Lukes Childrens Hospital and Department of Pediatrics consists of inpatient, neonatal, emergency medicine, specialty and primary care providers spread across a variety of practice locations.
• The Childrens Hospital includes a 17-bed inpatient unit and 8-bed PICU. A pediatric hospitalist and pediatric intensivist are in house 24/7.
• The department is supported by a growing team of pediatric specialists spanning 40 specialty areas including pediatric surgery, GI, endocrinology, nephrology, developmental pediatrics, neurology, cardiology, dermatology, psychiatry, pulmonology, radiology, anesthesia, orthopedics, plastic surgery, and more!
• Pediatric residency with 6 pediatric residents per year.
• Robust 16 campus Network spread over a diverse geographic area providing emergency care for over 320,000 patients annually.
• St. Lukes Emergency Medicine program includes comprehensive stroke centers, 4 PCI centers, a level 1 trauma center, a level 2 trauma center and four level 4 trauma centers.
• In addition to patient care, the emergency department also supports and trains emergency medicine residents at two separate emergency medicine residencies at St. Lukes University Hospital - Bethlehem (36 residents) and St. Lukes Anderson Campus (30 residents).
