Job summary

Texas Children's Hospital is seeking an ECHO Sonographer I to perform echocardiograms on children and adults in a fast-paced lab. You will learn Texas Children’s Hospital echo lab procedures and measurements, with opportunities to participate in conferences and QA activities.

The role emphasizes understanding ultrasound physics, accurate imaging, and timely delivery of preliminary reports, while maintaining equipment and supplies and delivering high-quality patient care.

Qualifications

  • Diploma or Bachelor's degree in science required.
  • Certifications: RDCS, RCS, RCCS, or CRCS required within 12 months of graduation.

Responsibilities

  • Identify indication for exam and communicate with the physician as needed.
  • Understand physics of ultrasound and blood flow.
  • Operate ultrasound equipment with proper gain, depth, and filtering for 2D, Doppler, and Color Doppler.
  • Perform complete examinations, recognize normal/abnormal structures, write preliminary reports and deliver them.
  • Maintain Echo Lab supplies and equipment daily.
  • Prepare equipment and patient rooms for daily use; stock etc.
  • Demonstrate excellent customer service.
  • Collaborate with departmental staff to ensure high quality patient care.
  • Attend in-services and staff meetings; participate in QA and training requirements.

We are searching for an ECHO Sonographer I — someone who works well in a fast-paced setting. In this position, you will learn the necessary skills and knowledge to perform echocardiograms on children and adults, as well as to learn Texas Children's Hospital echo lab standard procedures and understand and acquire measurements.

Qualifications
  • Other Diploma From A School Of Ultrasound Technology Or Bachelor Degree In Science Required
  • One Of The Following Certifications Or Licenses Required:
  • RDCS - Cert-reg Diag. Cardiac Sono American Registry For Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) Within 12 Months Of Graduation
  • RCS - Cert-registered Cardiac SONO Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) Within 12 Months Of Graduation
  • RCCS - Cert-reg Congenital Cardi Sono Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) Within 12 Months Of Graduation
  • CRCS - Cert-canada Reg Cardiac Sonogr Sonography Canada Within 12 Months Of Graduation
Responsibilities
  • Identify indication for exam and knowledge of limitations of procedure; initiates necessary communication with physician
  • Understand physics of ultrasound, physics of blood flow and bioeffects of ultrasound
  • Operate all equipment including proper settings for gain, depth and filters for 2D, Doppler, and Color Doppler
  • Perform complete examinations, recognizing normal structures, abnormal structures, writes preliminary reports and deliver them appropriately (verbally and electronically)
  • Perform daily operational maintenance of the Echo Lab supplies and equipment
  • Prepare equipment and the patient rooms (stocks linen and supplies) for daily operational use
  • Demonstrate customer service skills
  • Work with departmental staff and other healthcare professions to ensure high quality patient care
  • Participate and attends in-services (echo lab conferences, journal club, or pathology conference) and tech/staff meetings
  • Engage in quality assurance control in the team
  • Ensure completion of all departmental, regulatory and professional training requirements as prescribed
