Job summary

Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago is seeking a Food Service Associate to coordinate patient meal orders, deliver trays, and ensure a high-quality dining experience that meets nutritional needs.

Responsibilities include assisting nursing units, communicating with families, using the diet office system, supporting the dietitian, maintaining confidentiality, and keeping the kitchen stocked and clean in a fast-paced hospital environment.

Qualifications

  • Minimum High School education or GED equivalent.
  • Current Food Handler Certificate (within 30 days of hire).
  • Good communication skills.
  • Customer service skills.
  • Clearly speaks and writes English.
  • Basic computer competency.
  • Ability to sit for long periods and rotate positions.
  • Ability to push, pull, bend, twist, turn, and reach.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with patient menu selections based on nutritional needs.
  • Answer phones and liaison between nursing, patients, and the Food Service Department in assisting the patient with menu selections.
  • Operate diet office computer system to process patient diets and menu selections.
  • Deliver and pick up patient trays within established time frames.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and HIPAA compliance in performance of duties.
  • Stock nourishment kitchen and prepare paper menus for units as needed.
