Job summary

Children’s Mercy Kansas City seeks an experienced RN for a phone-based triage role in the Developmental and Behavioral Health team. The position focuses on assessing mental and developmental health needs via calls, guiding families, and coordinating care. Strong communication, calm under pressure, and reliable computer/keyboard skills are essential.

The role is on-site in Kansas City with initial pay starting at $32.00 per hour. BSN preferred for future advancement; ADN required.

Qualifications

• Registered nurses provide mental and developmental illness management and health promotion for patients and families who require care via phone.
• An ability to remain calm during stressful conversations is required.
• Knowledge of prior authorization and handling general provider and parent requests via telephone or message center is desired.

Responsibilities

• Utilizes the nursing process to develop and implement a safe, high quality plan of care for the patient and family.
• Meets the educational needs of the patient and family and advocates for their needs.
• Maintains an environment that is safe, comfortable, efficient, and family-centered.
• Utilizes current research to expand knowledge and improve nursing care quality.
