Job summary

Champaign-Urbana Public Health District is seeking a part-time Registered Dental Hygienist to support our Child & Teen Dental Clinic. The schedule is flexible, with a minimum of eight hours per week and options for 20 hours or three afternoons.

The role includes prophylaxis, x-rays, sealants, fluoride, and OHI for ages 0–19, along with education, documentation, and community outreach. A valid IL license and willingness to obtain Public Health Certification within 1 year are required.

Qualifications

• Current Illinois dental hygienist license required.
• Certificate or diploma from an approved dental hygiene program.
• Valid driver’s license and transportation required.
• Willing to obtain Public Health Dental Hygienist Certification within 1 year.
• Starting hourly rate $35.00; Class 7 Hygienist I range $35.00–$37.91.

Responsibilities

• Performs dental prophylaxis, exams, X-rays, fluoride, and OHI for ages 0–19.
• Administers sealants and silver diamine fluoride.
• Educates patients on oral health and home care.
• Restocks, sterilizes, and disinfects equipment following OSHA/CDC guidelines.
• Public awareness activities in schools and health fairs.
• Mentor pre-dental and community health interns.
