Job summary

OU Health is seeking a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) for the Children’s Sooner Pediatric Clinic. The role supports physicians and providers in direct patient care within an ambulatory setting, handling clinical and administrative duties to maintain smooth clinic flow.

The CMA will take vitals, collect patient history, perform venipuncture, administer basic procedures, and manage patient communications while adhering to safety standards and guidelines.

Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma or GED required. Accredited Medical Assistant Program preferred.
• Experience: 0-3 years in Patient Care as a Medical Assistant or similar role preferred.
• License/Certification: BLS certification required upon hire; CMA credentials preferred from listed certifying bodies.

Responsibilities

• Take vitals, patient history, venipuncture, lab, x-ray, referrals, and patient messages as directed.
• Adhere to National Patient Safety Goals and uphold patient safety standards.
• Assess and reassess patients and monitor status.
• Manage high call volumes with professional telephone etiquette.
• Organize workflow to meet patient needs and coordinate with other healthcare professionals.
• Assist with procedures and maintain sterile fields and specimen labeling.
• Transmitting prescriptions and arranging hospital admissions or patient care services.
• Stock exam rooms and manage supplies, inventory, and scheduling.
