Job summary

OU Health is seeking a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) for the Children's Sooner Pediatric Clinic. The CMA works with physicians and advance practice providers to deliver direct patient care in a fast-paced ambulatory setting, assisting with exams, procedures, and education.

Responsibilities include vital signs, venipuncture, lab work, referrals, and patient communication while ensuring patient safety and efficient flow. BLS is required, with MA certification options upon hire.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required
• Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant Program preferred
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required upon hire; multiple MA certifications acceptable upon hire

Responsibilities

• Provides direct patient care by taking vitals, patient history, venipuncture, lab work, x-ray referrals and patient messages as directed
• Adheres to National Patient Safety Goals and maintains patient safety standards
• Performs duties to support patient flow: triage, scheduling, and coordination with providers
• Maintains sterile technique and proper specimen labeling; supports procedures and education
• Transmits prescription refills and arranges hospital admissions or related services
• Stocking exam rooms, inventory management, and supply ordering
• Communicates clearly with patients and families and maintains professionalism in all interactions
