Job summary

Rochester Regional Health Home Care - Syracuse is seeking a Child Life Specialist to support pediatric palliative care patients and families in home and community settings.

The role focuses on developmentally appropriate interventions, family-centered care, and collaboration with an interdisciplinary team to advocate for children, siblings, and their families throughout illness and at end-of-life.

Qualifications

• Certified Child Life Specialist (CCLS) certification required with a minimum of 3 years related experience.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, organizational, and time management skills.
• Must have ability to travel.
• Basic computer skills including navigating Windows, email, and basic documents.

Responsibilities

• Collaborates as an effective member of the Interdisciplinary Care Team to support children’s developmental and psychosocial needs.
• Promotes integration of pediatric palliative care with other care settings and family-centered care.
• Develops, implements, and evaluates plan of care for child life services to empower families and address needs.
• Provides education to parents/caregivers about child development, stress responses, and healthcare experiences.
• Facilitates grief and bereavement support and memory-making activities with families.
