Job summary

Advocate Health is seeking a part-time Certified Child Life Specialist to support children and families in a pediatric hospital setting. You will plan developmentally appropriate activities, prepare patients for procedures, provide coping support, and collaborate with care teams.

Required ACLP certification within 6 months of hire, a Bachelor’s degree in Child Life/Child Development, and ACLP internship completion. Strong communication, empathy and mentoring skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Ability to function in a multidisciplinary environment providing direct patient/family care.
• Strong communication with patients, families, and care teams.
• Apply developmentally appropriate approaches to support children and adolescents.

Responsibilities

• Plan and implement activities to support normal development within the hospital.
• Provide direct patient and family interactions and support.
• Educate staff on developmentally appropriate pediatric care to minimize trauma.
• Coordinate events and resources with donors and community partners.
• Supervise interns and volunteers in Child Life, Creative Arts Therapies, and Education.
