Job summary

Qualifications

• Level I education: Graduation from accredited Medical Assistant program; high school or GED required.
• Level II/III education: Graduation from CAAHEP/ABHES-accredited program; high school or GED required.
• Experience: Level I—no experience; Level II—at least 1 year; Level III—at least 3 years in clinical MA role; associate degree may count as 1 year experience.

Responsibilities

• Administrative duties include answering telephones, filing records, insurance forms, scheduling appointments, arranging hospital admissions and lab services, handling billing and bookkeeping.
• Clinical duties include taking medical histories and vital signs, preparing patients for exams, assisting physician during exams, collecting and preparing specimens, performing basic lab tests, preparing and administering medications as directed, handling injections and prescriptions, and preparing patients for imaging studies.
