The Children’s Heart Center at St. Christopher's Hospital for Children seeks an outstanding Congenital Cardiac Surgeon to join our established and strategically expanding pediatric cardiac surgery program.
This is an exceptional opportunity for a surgeon with strong technical expertise, academic interest and program building ambition to contribute to a congenital heart program with more than 50 years of surgical history and a growing regional referral base across Pennsylvania, New Jersey and the Mid-Atlantic region.
Highlights
- Perform a broad spectrum of congenital cardiac surgical procedures, including neonatal, infant, pediatric, and selected adult congenital operations
- Participate fully in inpatient care, operative scheduling, and call coverage
- Work closely with pediatric cardiology, intensive care, neonatology, anesthesia, perfusion, and electrophysiology colleagues
- Support institutional programs in pediatric ECMO and advanced cardiothoracic care
- Contribute to referral development and outreach across Greater Philadelphia and New Jersey
- Teaching and mentoring residents and medical students from Drexel and Temple
- Academic appointment at Drexel University College of Medicine commensurate with qualifications
- Participation in clinical outcomes research, quality improvement, and translational collaboration

Qualifications
We seek a pediatric cardiothoracic surgeon with the clinical maturity, technical breadth, and academic ambition to help guide the next phase of growth of our congenital heart program, including expansion of surgical complexity, regional referral partnerships, and academic visibility. Additionally, we require:
- Board Certification or Board Eligibility by the American Board of Thoracic Surgery
- Fellowship training in congenital cardiac surgery
- ABTS certification in congenital cardiac surgery preferred
- Demonstrated expertise in neonatal and complex congenital surgery
- Eligibility for Pennsylvania medical licensure
- Strong commitment to multidisciplinary, evidence-based, family-centered care
