The University of Virginia (UVA) Children’s Hospital and the Division of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery are seeking applications to join the faculty in the Section of Congenital Heart Surgery. Responsibilities include all aspects of clinical care for the congenital cardiac populations. The individual will join Dr. James Gangemi in a busy, comprehensive congenital heart program and preferably has a strong experience and interest in research and education. Opportunities exist for basic science and translational research as well as support for clinical research interests.
The Congenital Heart Program at UVA has been nationally ranked in USNWR for 10 consecutive years. It continues to grow throughout the Commonwealth of Virginia with formal collaborations with children's hospitals in Norfolk and Richmond Virginia. We have a busy neonatal heart surgery program with a continually growing fetal cardiology program. We also have a busy and growing pediatric heart transplant and pediatric mechanical circulatory support program. The dedicated pediatric cardiac intensive care unit boasts 5 dually trained pediatric intensivists.
Interested individuals must be an MD, certified by the American Board of Thoracic Surgery (ABTS), with additional ABTS Certification in Congenital Cardiac Surgery. The ideal applicant will have a strong clinical background and interest in complex neonatal heart surgery, pediatric heart transplantation and pediatric mechanical circulatory support.
