Job summary

Duke Health is seeking a Cardiac Sonographer to provide patient and provider support by using ultrasound imaging technologies to aid in diagnosing and treating cardiac conditions.

You will perform diagnostic echocardiography exams, operate equipment, ensure safety and comfort, communicate findings to physicians, and support the daily operations of the echocardiography department. The schedule is 32 hours per week; there may be variable shifts, weekends, and call coverage depending on location.

Qualifications

• Graduate or completion of program that meets eligibility requirements for registry/certification.
• ARDMS and/or CCI certification in Echocardiography must be obtained within 12 months of hire.
• BLS Certification required.

Responsibilities

• Performs clinical assessment and diagnostic cardiac ultrasound examinations.
• Operates echocardiography equipment and ensures quality of recordings.
• Communicates findings to interpreting physician and documents results per department policy.
• Maintains safety, privacy, and comfort of patients during examinations.
• Assists in daily operations and workflow of the echocardiography department.
