Job summary

WVUH West Virginia University Hospitals seeks a Nursing Supervisor to oversee bed management and staff coordination 24/7. The role ensures efficient hospital operations, rapid bed placement, and effective response to emergencies.

Responsibilities include data-driven decision-making, interdepartmental collaboration, and quality improvement participation to maintain optimal patient flow and care quality.

Qualifications

• Current license to practice Registered Professional Nursing in West Virginia.
• Obtain certification in Basic Life Support within 30 days of hire date
• Specialty certification in nursing administration or specialty (preferred)

Responsibilities

• Make administrative decisions using available data on patient flow, bed status, and transfers.
• Coordinate transfers from outside facilities and the Emergency Department for patient placement.
• Provide bed status updates to ED physicians and care teams to expedite admissions.
• Assist staff in resolving problems affecting patient care and coordinate staffing with the House Supervisor.
• Perform rounds and assist with service recovery in a timely manner.
• Respond to emergencies, coordinate additional help, and plan patient transfers as needed.
• Collaborate with the House Supervisor to complete fitness for duty requirements.
• Participate in Performance Improvement/Quality Improvement activities.
