This position is based at Shriners Children's Ohio, located on the campus of Dayton Children's Hospital, and includes a clinical practice split with approximately 20-40% of time spent providing care at Dayton Children's.

Shriners Children's Ohio specializes in providing expert surgical care for children with complex conditions, including craniofacial surgery, cleft lip and palate repair, acute burn care, burn reconstruction, and select plastic and reconstructive procedures. This role offers the opportunity to care for a diverse mix of critical and non-critical pediatric patients while utilizing advanced techniques such as regional anesthesia, ultrasound-guided blocks, advanced airway management, and anesthesia support for laser scar revision procedures.

Anesthesiologists practice in an all-MD model without CRNA supervision, typically running two operating rooms daily. Approximately 90% of clinical time is spent in the operating room, with occasional responsibilities including preoperative assessments and occasional PACU care. Surgical schedules vary from one to five days per week.

Physicians collaborate closely with a highly specialized, multidisciplinary team that includes pediatric burn surgeons, plastic surgeons, physician assistants, perioperative nurses, physical and occupational therapists, and recreational therapy staff. This position includes a rotating 1-in-4 home call schedule. There are no resident or fellow teaching responsibilities within the Shriners program.

This is a full-time, benefits-eligible position employed by Shriner's Children's Ohio. Compensation ranges from $565,843-$651,510, based on years of post-fellowship experience and departmental equity.

  • Manage airway techniques appropriate for pediatric patients, including advanced airway management and ventilation strategies.
  • Respond to intraoperative complications and perioperative emergencies, initiating appropriate interventions as required.
  • Collaborate with surgeons, proceduralists, pediatricians, nurses, and other allied health professionals to coordinate care delivery.
  • Provide postoperative pain management and follow-up, including regional anesthesia and sedation recovery monitoring.
  • Document all assessments, procedures, and interventions in the electronic health record in compliance with regulatory and institutional standards.
  • Participate in departmental quality improvement, safety initiatives, clinical protocol development, and peer review processes.
  • May contribute to the training and supervision of residents, fellows, or students as part of academic responsibilities.
  • Maintain accountability for meeting established productivity benchmarks (e.g. wRVUS), quality metrics, and institutional performance standards
  • Ensure time is allocated in accordance with assigned clinical, surgical, administrative, and academic expectations.
