Job summary

Washington University in St. Louis is seeking a Nurse Supervisor for Pediatrics Ambulatory Care at the Children’s Specialty Care Center West County.

You will lead a multispecialty outpatient team of about 10 nurses and support staff, oversee hiring, onboarding, and ongoing competency development, and coordinate with providers. This role focuses on operational excellence, daily rounds, staffing, patient care oversight, and collaboration across locations.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program, plus a minimum of 2 years of related nursing experience.
• Current LPN or RN licensure in the state of Missouri and/or Illinois, depending on location, per the Compact Act.
• Basic Life Support certification (BLS) is required from a approved provider.

Responsibilities

• Supervises nursing staff, including hiring/firing and performance appraisals.
• Coordinates patient services with physicians to ensure quality care.
• Facilitates educational opportunities and quality improvement activities for staff.
• Assigns activities and orients new staff; advises administration on performance issues.
• Provides direct patient care as needed, including care plans, medications, vitals, and IV monitoring.
• Promotes good public relations with patients and families; coordinates with other departments.
• Explains medications and procedures to patients and families; teaches care for continuity of care.
