Job summary

The Inter-American Development Bank is seeking a PEC Consultant for Sovereign Vulnerabilities Data Visualization and Analytics to build interactive dashboards and AI-enabled analyses in Washington, DC. You will combine web development, data visualization, and information design to translate sovereign risk data into clear insights for credit risk monitoring and senior management decisions.

The contract runs for 4 months, remote, with English plus another official language required.

Qualifications

• Master's degree or equivalent in Computer Science, AI, Math, or related field with data visualization focus.
• Minimum three years in web development, data visualization, or related areas developing interactive data-driven apps.
• Strong proficiency in React, Python, and modern web technologies; ability to build dashboards.
• Experience with sovereign risk, credit risk, macroeconomic or country-level datasets is desirable but not required.
• English plus one other Bank official language (Spanish, French, or Portuguese) required.

About this position

We are looking for a web-development- and AI-savvy, visualization-focused, and communication-oriented Sovereign Vulnerabilities Data Visualization and Analytics Contractor to join the Credit Risk Management Unit (RMC). In this role, you will develop and enhance interactive tools that transform complex sovereign risk data into clear, intuitive, and compelling visual insights for credit monitoring, internal risk assessments, and senior management decision-making. You will combine web development, data visualization, and information design to build interactive dashboards, automate data-processing workflows, and improve the scalability and sustainability of RMC’s Sovereign Vulnerabilities analytical products.

You will work in the Credit Risk Management Unit (RMC), part of the Office of Risk Management (RMG). The unit assesses and monitors credit risk across the Bank’s portfolio and provides timely risk analysis to support senior management and institutional decision-making.

What you’ll do

• Develop interactive dashboards and web-based analytical tools, using technologies such as React, Python, and JavaScript, to support sovereign vulnerability analysis and credit risk monitoring.
• Design clear, intuitive, and decision-useful data visualizations, charts, and analytical interfaces that communicate complex sovereign risk information effectively to senior management and other stakeholders.
• Automate data processing, transformation, and visualization workflows to improve the efficiency, consistency, and sustainability of recurring updates.
• Integrate and process data from multiple internal and external sources, including country-level, macroeconomic, financial, sovereign debt, and credit rating data.
• Improve existing analytical and reporting processes by identifying opportunities for automation, AI integration, standardization, scalability, and enhanced user experience.
• Work closely with credit risk specialists and SRM (Systemic Risk Management) to translate sovereign risk concepts and analytical requirements into effective digital tools and visual products.
• Support data quality assurance and validation to ensure the accuracy and consistency of information presented in dashboards and analytical tools.
• Develop technical documentation to facilitate the maintenance, scalability, and continuity of developed solutions.
• Develop and maintain visual design standards, templates, color schemes, and reusable visualization components to ensure that Sovereign Vulnerabilities products and sub-products are clear, visually cohesive, intuitive, and consistent.

What you'll need

• Education: At least a Master's (or equivalent advanced degree) in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Mathematics, Physics, Information Systems, Software Engineering, with a focus on data visualization, or other fields relevant to the responsibilities of the role.
• Experience: At least three years of progressive experience in web development, data visualization, agentic AI development, data analytics, business intelligence, or related areas, including demonstrated experience developing interactive, data-driven applications. Technical skills: Strong proficiency in React, Python, and modern web-development technologies, with demonstrated ability to develop and maintain interactive web applications and dashboards. Strong knowledge of data visualization principles and experience developing sophisticated charts, graphs, and interactive analytical components. Domain knowledge: Experience working with sovereign risk, credit risk, macroeconomic, financial, or country-level datasets—including sovereign credit ratings, sovereign debt, macroeconomic indicators, and country panel data is highly desirable but not required.
• Languages: Proficiency in English and one of the other Bank official languages (Spanish, French or Portuguese) is required.
