Charter One is seeking a PE Teacher for the American Leadership Academy - Charlotte campus for the 2026-2027 school year. Candidates must be willing to undergo a background check.

The PE Teacher will advocate health and wellness, create a dynamic environment, promote teamwork, and support students' growth through a variety of physical activities while emphasizing safety and inclusivity.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree and background check required.
• Submit fingerprints through NCSBI.
• Background check clearance required.

Responsibilities

• Implement lesson plans aligned with curriculum and standards.
• Provide opportunities for students to experience physical activities across multiple domains.
• Engage students in developmentally appropriate physical activities to build motor skills and fitness.
• Set clear learning objectives and assess student progress.
• Maintain a positive, respectful, and inclusive classroom environment.
• Implement effective classroom management to ensure productive learning.
• Address behavioral issues promptly in line with school policies.
• Maintain a safe physical environment by inspecting equipment and facilities.
• Teach and enforce safety protocols and appropriate boundaries.
• Respond promptly to injuries and maintain incident reports as required.
• Model proper technique to prevent injuries and promote healthy movement.
• Assess students using diverse methods (demonstrations, fitness tests, rubrics, etc.).
• Provide constructive feedback focused on technique and growth.
• Maintain records of student performance and progress.
• Differentiate instruction for diverse learners.
• Foster communication with students, parents, and guardians.

The PE Teacher is an advocate for health and wellness, dedicated to creating a dynamic and energetic environment that encourages teamwork, sportsmanship, and personal growth in students. The PE Teacher inspires students to explore various sports and physical activities while promoting the importance of overall well-being.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Implement lesson plans that align with the curriculum and educational standards.
• Provide opportunities for students to experience a variety of physical activities across multiple domains (individual sports, team sports, lifetime fitness, etc.).
• Engage students in developmentally appropriate physical activities, sports, fitness challenges, and movement-based projects that build motor skills, and athleticcompetence.
• Set clear learning objectives and assess student progress toward these goals.
• Establish and maintain a positive, respectful, and inclusive classroom environment.
• Implement effective classroom management strategies to ensure a productive learning atmosphere.
• Address behavioral issues promptly and appropriately, in line with school policies.
• Maintain a safe, well-maintained physical environment by regularly inspecting equipment, facilities, and playing areas.
• Teach and enforce proper safety protocols, including correct use of equipment and appropriate physical boundaries.
• Respond promptly to injuries and maintain accurate incident reports in accordance with school policy.
• Model and reinforce proper technique to prevent injuries and promote healthy movement habits.
• Assess students using a variety of methods including skill demonstrations, fitness testing, participation rubrics, self-assessments, and written components (rules, strategy, fitness concepts).
• Provide constructive feedback that focuses on technique improvement, effort, and individual growth.
• Maintain accurate records of student performance and progress.
• Track progress in physical skills, fitness levels, effort, sportsmanship, and personal goal achievement.
• Modify activities, intensity levels, and rules to ensure all students, including those with disabilities, injuries, or varying fitness levels, can participate meaningfullyand safely.
• Provide alternative activities or roles for students unable to participate due to injury or medical restrictions. Provide additional support and resources as neededto help students succeed.
• Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse learning needs of the classroom.
• Foster open communication with students, parents, and guardians regarding student progress, behavior, and any concerns.
• Hold parent-teacher conferences to discuss student development and address any issues.
• Collaborate with colleagues and participate in professional learning communities.
• Engage in continuous professional development to stay current with educational practices, technologies, and subject matter.
• Participate in school meetings, committees, and other professional activities as required.
• Prepare and submit reports, lesson plans, and other required documentation in a timely manner.
• Participate in school-wide initiatives and contribute to the development of school policies and programs.
• Provide guidance and support to students in their academic and personal development.
• Address and resolve any issues that may affect students’ learning and well-being.
• Encourage and support student involvement in extracurricular activities and school events.
• Adhere to school and district policies, including those related to student health and safety.
• Other duties as assigned.
