Job summary

Ferguson Construction Company is seeking a Structural Engineer to join its interdisciplinary team in Ohio/Indiana. The role involves designing and analyzing structural drawings for new buildings, renovations, and additions, and coordinating with architects and civil engineers.

You will work closely with senior leadership, including the Managing Architect and President, and contribute to value engineering and efficient project delivery within a Design‑Build framework.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Structural Engineering, Civil Engineering, or related field.
• Professional Engineer License or ability to obtain it within a year.
• Minimum 3 years' experience performing concrete and steel engineering work.
• Proficient in CAD, Tekla; Revit experience a plus.
• Detail oriented with strong problem-solving and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Work with current designers to direct, design, analyze, and draw structural drawings for new buildings, additions, and renovations.
• Design and analyze conventional steel buildings, including framing plans.
• Design shallow foundations, slabs, modest retaining walls, pits, and steel reinforcing.
• Develop structural drawings and specifications to obtain building permits; coordinate with architectural and civil staff.
• Review and seal structural drawings for submission to jurisdictions; review steel shop drawings for compliance.
• Estimate material and labor, ordering and coordinating deliveries of pre-engineered metal buildings and accessories; conduct quantity takeoffs.
• Coordinate with pre-engineered supplier engineers to determine cost effective solutions; work with BD and design staff to identify value engineering opportunities.
