Job summary

Nebraska Methodist Health System is hiring an Adjunct Instructor for the Nursing Assistant Certificate Course. This position requires an Associate's degree in Nursing and a valid Nebraska RN License. Adjunct Instructor – Nursing Assistant Certificate Course

Location: Methodist College, 720 N. 87th St., Omaha, NE. Work Schedule: One evening per week, 5:00pm–10:00pm.

Job Summary

While adhering to the mission and values of the College, the Adjunct Instructor will provide a learning environment and experiences to prepare learners for their future role in healthcare.

Responsibilities
  • Promote a positive learning environment within the classroom, lab, and clinical setting and encourage maximum student participation.
  • Establish positive rapport with students and employees.
  • Utilize and follow the curriculum and resources provided.
  • Teach evening and weekends; daytime schedules may also be available.
  • Maintain equipment to ensure proper working condition.
  • Record and forward attendance, testing, and evaluation materials to the appropriate contacts within the Division of Professional Development.
  • Ensure classroom, lab spaces, and supplies are orderly.
  • Be willing to train and teach in all educational roles within the department as needed (e.g., Nursing Assistant Instructor, Medication Aide Instructor, Nursing Assistant State Tester, RN Refresher Instructor).
  • Answer phones, triage calls, and field questions as needed.
  • Participate in team meetings.
  • Copy and scan program materials.
  • Assist with skills sign off and evaluations to ensure students are competent in all required areas.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by Director of Professional Development.
Job Requirements
Education
  • Associate’s degree in Nursing (ASN) or RN diploma required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSN) or Master’s degree in Nursing (MSN) preferred.
Experience
  • 1 or more years teaching experience preferred.
  • 1 or more years nursing experience required.
License/Certifications
  • Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) strongly preferred at time of hire, required within 3 months of hire.
  • Current valid Nebraska Registered Nurse (RN) License, valid compact multistate license to work in Nebraska, or a temporary permit while awaiting licensure required.

  • Computer knowledge and use of technology for the didactic portion of courses.
  • Excellent communication, reading, writing skills.
