Job summary

UCI Health in Orange, California, seeks a Central Sterile Tech to decontaminate, clean, process and sterilize supplies for the hospital and clinics, including charging and logging for the OR.

You will perform daily biological testing and participate in performance improvement projects; shift options may include evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.

Qualifications

• Accredited school of Sterile Processing or 18 months relevant Sterile Processing experience.
• Knowledge and practice of infectious control techniques and medical terminology.
• Current CRCST or CSPDT certification. Must maintain certification by CEUs and renewing.
• Ability to work variable shifts including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.

Responsibilities

Your Role on the Team

The Central Sterile Tech is responsible for the decontamination, cleaning, processing, and sterilization of supplies and equipment dispensed by the department throughout the hospital and outlying clinics. Will also perform charging, billing and logging of service as well as patient charges for the OR. Performs daily biological testing. Participates on special projects and departmental and medical center-wide performance improvement projects as requested.

Required Qualifications

• Successful completion of an accredited school of Sterile Processing or Surgical Technology or 18 months relevant Sterile Processing experience
• Knowledge and practice of infectious control techniques and medical terminology
• Current full CRCST or CSPDT certification. Must maintain certification by taking CEUs and renewing certification.
• Ability to work variable shifts including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays

• Demonstrated experience working in a fast paced healthcare environment
