THOM Thomas Hospitals in South Charleston, WV, is seeking a Patient Care Technician to support Med-Surg Tele/Neurosurgery units. The role provides direct and indirect patient care under RN supervision and focuses on comfort, safety, and quality care.

Night shift, full-time, with every other weekend and rotating holidays. You will assist with admissions, vital signs, specimen collection, and preparing patients for exams while maintaining a clean, safe environment and effective communication with

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• BLS certification within 30 days of hire.
• Prior patient care experience.
• Ability to communicate effectively with staff and patients.

Responsibilities

• Observes and reports patient concerns to a registered nurse immediately.
• Assists the RN with admissions, transfers, discharges and general patient care duties.
• Records vital signs and assists with personal hygiene and comfort measures.
• Assists in specimen collection and related activities of assigned patients.
• Maintains a clean and safe environment to help prevent infections and ensure safety.
• Reports necessary equipment repairs to appropriate personnel promptly.
• Prepares patients for examinations and diagnostic procedures.
• Communicates nutrition issues to RN when needed.
• Answers patient call bells and relays messages to appropriate personnel.
