Qualifications

Job Description

Major Responsibilities

• 1. Under the supervision of a Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse, and according to hospital and departmental policies and procedures, assists in data collection and care and treatment of patients.
• 2. Demonstrates understanding of comfort measures required of population served.
• 3. Performs patient care activities as prescribed by and under the direct supervision of the registered nurse/preceptor based on established protocols.
• 4. Effectively communicates with patients, families, and staff as necessary.
• 5. Works collaboratively in a team model of care.

Position Qualifications

Licensure/Certification/Education

Required

• 1. CPR certification.
• 2. CNA certification.
• 3. Must be the age of 17 or older.
• 4. Current Basic Life Support Certification required within 30 days of hire.

Preferred

• 1. Successful completion of a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA).

Experience/Skills

Required

• 1. Must possess the following skills: reading, writing and simple mathematical calculations
• 2. Good interpersonal skills
• 3. Ability to work effectively with individuals and groups
• 4. Ability to communicate effectively verbally
• 5. Manual dexterity required to perform tests and to complete treatments
• 6. Ability to understand and follow through on instructions

Preferred

• 1. Recent sub-acute or acute care patient care assistant experience.

Unless certification, licensure or registration is required, an equivalent combination of education and experience which provides proficiency in the areas of responsibility listed in this description may be substituted for the above requirements.
