Job summary

PCH Princeton Community Hospital is seeking a temporary nursing associate aligned with current nursing students. The role involves direct and indirect patient care, under RN supervision, and focuses on safe, compassionate support for patients’ daily needs.

Job description

The nursing associate position is a temporary position tailored to current nursing students. This role performs high quality, cost effective direct and indirect patient care similar to those of a patient care tech-non-certified, including personal, physical and comfort needs of patients, under the supervision of a registered professional nurse.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:
  1. Must be enrolled as a professional nursing student in a Diploma Program, Associate, or Baccalaureate RN program of an accredited School of Nursing.
  • Must provide proof of current, continuing enrollment at the completion of each semester. Examples of acceptable documentation include a transcript and next semester schedule or a confirmation letter from the school.
  1. Obtain certification in Basic Life Support within 30 days of hire date.
CORE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Assists all assigned patients with activities of daily living according to need in a timely manner.

  2. Safely transports patients to all tests and procedures as well as escorts patients for discharge.

  3. Obtains and records assigned patient temperatures, pulse rates, respiratory rates, blood pressures, intake and output, weight and abdominal girths.

  4. Observes and reports all patient concerns/changes in condition to a registered nurse immediately.

  5. Assists the Registered Nurse with admission, transfer, discharge and general patient care duties.

  6. Assists in specimen collection and other activities of assigned patients.

  7. Answers patient call bell and relays message to appropriate staff.

  8. Prepares patients for examinations and diagnostic procedures.

  9. Assists in indirect patient care by maintaining a clean and safe environment to help prevent and/or control infections and to provide for safety of patients, visitors, and employees.

  10. Assists with personal hygiene and other patient comfort measures.

  11. May act in the role of a sitter for a patient as assigned by the charge RN.

For facilities with specialty accreditation requirements:
  1. Completion of annual required education related to specialty accreditation as defined by accreditation standards. Training may be completed through CBLs, trainings, In-services, and competency validation.
