Job summary

Sanford Health in Bemidji, MN is seeking a Nursing Assistant to support nursing staff with patient care tasks during day shifts. The position offers a 40-hour work week and a Monday–Friday, 8am–5pm schedule, with no weekends or holidays.

The Nursing Assistant will take vital signs, stock supplies, and prepare treatment areas under the supervision of a Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse, aiding patients with daily living activities and basic health care needs.

Qualifications

• Must have good human relations and communication skills.
• Must be able to follow procedures and instructions given by the licensed nurse.
• Must acquire a basic knowledge of patient care principles, medical terminology and equipment within the assigned service area.
• Certification and registration with the Minnesota Board of Nursing Assistant Registry is required.

Responsibilities

• Assist with clinical duties as delegated within roles and responsibilities, personalized training and competency, and needs of specific ambulatory setting.
• Assists with taking vital signs.
• Maintains stock of medical supplies needed for registered nurse or physician.
• Complies with all patient duties assigned.
• The Nursing Assistant serves as caregiver to the patient during the scheduled work period.
• Administer delegated tasks and treatments.
• Record vital statistics and other basic health information.
• Provide assistance with basic health care needs including rooming the patients, daily living activities; emotional and spiritual needs.
• Will collect non-invasive biological specimens from patients as needed.
• Perform clerical work related to scheduling and documenting patient healthcare.
• Prepare patient treatment areas for use; prepare and clean medical equipment; dispose of biomedical waste in accordance with standards and policy.
• Clean patient areas or treatment rooms.
