Job summary

Samsung Austin Semiconductor seeks an Equipment Shift Engineer to monitor and sustain PCS equipment health, including dry vacuum pumps, chillers, scrubbers, and N2 injection systems.

You will develop data-driven dashboards, define TPM-based maintenance procedures, and lead reliability improvements. Collaboration across equipment teams will drive fleet health and KPI improvements in a fast-paced sub-fab environment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Industrial, or Process Engineering or equivalent.
  • 3+ years hands-on experience with sub-fab systems in semiconductor industry.

Responsibilities

  • Understand the core function of each PCS equipment type.
  • Maintain and implement maintenance procedures for each equipment type.
  • Build and modify dashboards visualizing equipment performance and health.
  • Automate escalations of equipment issues based on spec limits.
  • Perform root-cause investigations for abnormal equipment failures.
  • Lead projects with clearly defined benefits and ROIs.

The PCS equipment fleet includes dry vacuum Pumps, heat-exchanging Chillers, chemical abatement Scrubbers, and associated Accessory equipment like gate valves, pipe heaters, and N2 injection systems. The core job tasks include the identification of data sets that define equipment condition, organization of data trends to display the health of equipment via real-time dashboard, and creation of work processes and expectations to take action on fleet trends.Also, you'll be responsible to develop functional knowledge of all PCS equipment types and collaborate with each equipment team to monitor, control, and sustain fleet health using Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) principles.Role and ResponsibilitiesHere's what you'll be responsible for:Equipment ExpertiseUnderstand the core function of each PCS equipment typeDemonstrate knowledge of design concepts across each PCS equipment typeLearn the common failure modes in each PCS equipment typeIdentify the roster of parameters each equipment is capable of measuringMaintenance and ProcedureUnderstand the maintenance procedures for each equipment typeLearn how each team schedules maintenance on equipmentEstablish expectations on maintenance procedures and define constraints for failure conditionsFleet Health VisibilityCompile data sets of equipment parameters and rank them by health based on valueEvaluate parameter values using SPC methodologies and define spec limitsBuild and modify dashboards that visualize the performance and health of equipmentAutomate escalations of equipment issues based on spec limitsCreate and enforce procedures that are used to address fleet health issuesEngineering ReliabilityAnalyze equipment performance and derive improvement opportunitiesAuthor preventive‑maintenance schedules based on usage hours, manufacturer recommendations, and failure‑mode analysesPerform root‑cause investigations for abnormal equipment failuresOrganize and lead projects that have clearly defined benefits and ROITeam CollaborationInterface with equipment engineer peers to drive improvements in their respective modulesManage competing priorities within each module and generate progress on the important initiativesDocumentation & ReportingProduce and maintain operating manuals, SOPs, and fleet recordsSubmit monthly KPI dashboards (pump uptime, mean‑time‑between‑failure)Record all incident reports for audit purposesSkills and QualificationsHere's what you'll need:Bachelor of Engineering in Mechanical, Chemical, Industrial, or Process Engineering3+ years of hands‑on experience with sub-fab systems in semiconductor industryExperience in other manufacturing environments with large quantities of equipmentProficiency in data/statistical analyticsExperience with mechanical repair of equipmentKnowledge of common industrial sensors (pressure, temperature, flow, etc.)Proficiency with Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) concepts and how to implement them in industry.The current base salary range for this role is between $76,000 - $145,000. Individual base pay rates will depend on factors including duties, work location, education, skills, qualifications and experience.
