Job summary

Stellant Systems in Torrance, CA is seeking a PCB Designer to create layouts and drawings for aerospace and defense applications, working onsite to support critical programs.

You will use Altium to layout boards, capture schematics, and communicate designs clearly, while collaborating with product engineering, manufacturing, and procurement to resolve design and manufacturing issues. Knowledge of IPC standards and PCB materials is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field; additional years of experience may be used in lieu of education.
• Proficiency in Altium for PCB layout, schematic capture, and library management.
• Knowledge of drafting standards, GD&T (ASME Y14.5M), change control, and configuration management.
• Ability to handle multiple projects concurrently and adapt to changing priorities.
• Working knowledge of PCB materials and manufacturing techniques.
• Familiarity with IPC standards for PCB design and manufacture.

Responsibilities

• Layout printed circuit boards and drawings using Altium and related models.
• Investigate design factors regarding manufacturability, cost, and specifications.
• Collaborate with product engineering, manufacturing, procurement, and suppliers to resolve issues.
• Generate and process engineering change notices to update drawings/documentation.

Overview

Job Title: PCB Designer

Job Location: Torrance, CA

Salary: $80,000-$130,000/yr DOE

Stellant Systems, Inc. (Stellant) is seeking a talented onsitePRINTED CIRCUIT BOARD DESIGNER atour Torrance, California location. In this role you will support our goal of bringing cutting edge technology to mission critical aerospace and defense applications, supporting critical commercial and government programs for orbital or terrestrial systems. The primary role for this position is to support product design engineering by creating PCB layouts and clearly communicating designs with drawings and schematics. Secondarily, mechanical solid modeling and drawing experience is desired.

Responsibilities

• Layout printed circuit boards and associated drawings and schematics using Altium and layout models and drawings for mechanical parts in a manner consistent with the manufacturing schedule using industry standards.
• Investigate design factors such as ease of manufacturing, cost, maintenance, and contractual specifications, ensuring that designs and engineering data are accurate, functional, clearly communicated, and conform to internal standards and procedures.
• Interact with product engineering, manufacturing, and procurement departments as well as external suppliers and customers to identify requirements necessary to resolve design and manufacturing related issues.
• Generate and process engineering change notices to update drawings and documentation.
• Role may support chip-and-wire substrate layout for active RF products.

Qualifications

The following are required:

• Level II – minimum 2 years relevant experience.
• Level III – minimum 4 years relevant experience.
• Level IV – minimum 6 years relevant experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in relevant field. Additional years of relevant experience may be used in lieu of education.
• Proficiency in the use of Altium for printed circuit board layout, schematic capture, and library management.
• Knowledge of general drafting standards, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (ASME Y14.5M), change control processes, and configuration management principles.
• Ability to handle multiple projects concurrently and adjust quickly to changing priorities.
• Working knowledge of PCB materials and manufacturing techniques.
• Familiarity with IPC standards for PCB design and manufacture.

Familiarity with the following is desired:

• Mechanical design for products and tools.
• Windchill or equivalent PLM systems.
• Mentor Graphics PADS, AutoCAD, Inventor, Creo, Solidworks or other mechanical CAD.
• Chip and wire substrates and layouts.
