Job summary

Benchmark is hiring an electronic assembler in Huntsville, AL to assemble and modify PCBs, subassemblies, and systems per instructions. You will work from prints and process sheets, maintaining quality and safety standards.

With 2+ years in PCB/optics assembly and mentoring others, you will read drawings, use hand tools, and follow procedures. Responsibilities include defect identification, documentation, and continuous improvement in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • 2+ years of specialized/more complex PCB and/or Optics assembly.
  • 2+ years of experience mentoring others.
  • Ability to read, write and perform basic math.
  • Ability to use hand tools and associated devices to manufacture PCBs and other electronic assemblies.
  • Ability to learn and master all tasks associated with PCB assembly that are assigned.
  • Ability to identify electronic components.
  • Ability to identify solder non-conformance and correct them.
  • Effective communication, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to respond to written and verbal instructions.
  • Ability to work with and around chemicals used in the PCB manufacturing process.
  • Ability to work overtime as needed.
  • Ability to obtain and renew certifications on assigned equipment and willingness to cross-train in other areas.
  • Participate in a continuous improvement activity.

Responsibilities

  • Reads and follows assembly prints, work instructions, drawings, procedures and specifications used in the manufacturing of PCBs.
  • Identifies by sight workmanship and material defects in touch-up and assembly areas and may be able to suggest basic changes to the work instructions to improve operations in these areas.
  • Performs tasks with a high degree of care and attention to details while maintaining a clean and safe work environment.
  • Assembles electronic components, assemblies, and modules by working from samples, visual aids, wiring lists and process sheets.
  • Maintains accurate material control within the work area.
  • Performs inspection of own work in immediate working unit.
  • Participates in providing timely feedback to other operations, management and support engineering, as appropriate.
  • Follows and maintains accurate process documentation.
  • Assemble PCBs of highest degree of dexterity and skill/knowledge.
  • May perform inspection of other employee’s work.
  • Use most sophisticated tooling to perform operations.
  • Recommend process improvements to management and engineering.
  • Serve as mentor and may be back-up to Team Leader or Supervisor.
  • All employees are responsible for the Quality of their work to ensure BEI meets, or exceeds Customer Satisfaction.

Summary

Assembles and/or modifies electronic components, subassemblies and systems by following specific instructions. Assists in working with other less experienced assemblers.
