Job description

Summary

Assembles and/or modifies electronic components, subassemblies and systems by following specific instructions. Assists in working with other less experienced assemblers.


Responsibilities


  • Reads and follows assembly prints, work instructions, drawings, procedures and specifications used in the manufacturing of PCBs.

  • Identifies by sight workmanship and material defects in touch‑up and assembly areas and may be able to suggest basic changes to the work instructions to improve operations.

  • Performs tasks with a high degree of care and attention to detail while maintaining a clean and safe work environment.

  • Assembles electronic components, assemblies, and modules by working from samples, visual aids, wiring lists and process sheets.

  • Maintains accurate material control within the work area.

  • Performs inspection of own work in immediate working unit.

  • Participates in providing timely feedback to other operations, management and support engineering, as appropriate.

  • Follows and maintains accurate process documentation.

  • Assembles PCBs of an intermediate complexity.

  • May use a variety of tools to perform tasks.

  • Serves as a mentor to lesser skilled employees.


Qualifications


  • 1+ years of experience in hardware and/or simple optics assembly type activities.

  • Ability to read, write and perform basic math.

  • Ability to use hand tools and associated devices to manufacture PCBs and other electronic assemblies.

  • Ability to learn and master all tasks associated with PCB assembly that are assigned.

  • Ability to identify electronic components.

  • Ability to identify solder non‑conformance and correct them.

  • Effective communication, both verbal and written.

  • Ability to respond to written and verbal instructions.

  • Ability to work with and around chemicals used in the PCB manufacturing process.

  • Ability to work overtime as needed.

  • Ability to obtain and renew certifications on assigned equipment and willingness to cross‑train in other areas.

  • Participation in continuous improvement activities.


Safety & Drug Screening

This position is classified as safety‑sensitive because impairment while performing job duties could pose a significant risk of harm. Where permitted by applicable law or required by federal regulation, Benchmark will conduct a pre‑employment drug screen, which may include testing for THC. In jurisdictions that restrict pre‑employment cannabis testing or prohibit action based solely on non‑psychoactive cannabis metabolites, Benchmark will comply with local requirements. Benchmark maintains a drug‑ and alcohol‑free workplace and may conduct reasonable‑suspicion and post‑incident testing in accordance with applicable law.


Education

High School Diploma or equivalent preferred, but not required.

Geographical Location: Rochester, MN


Shift: Shift 1 – Work Schedule: Monday‑Thursday 0600‑1600


Employment Type: Full‑time.


Compensation & Benefits

Compensation Range: $17.52 to $21.27 USD per hour. Many factors are considered in compensation decisions, including but not limited to skills, certifications, licensures, experience, training, incumbent data, and other business needs.
