Job summary

Dayton Children's Main Campus is seeking a Patient Care Assistant (PCA) for the Float & Logistics department on a part-time schedule of 24 hours. The PCA will assist the nurse with patient care activities, considering developmental levels, and will demonstrate strong communication while reporting patient information.

Responsibilities include measuring and recording vital signs, intake and output, helping with activities of daily living, and ensuring a safe environment for patients.

Qualifications

• HSD/GED is required.
• PCA training or PCA experience or actively enrolled in a health care related education program is required.
• 1-2 years STNA experience in hospital setting is preferred.

Responsibilities

Job Description

Responsible for assisting the nurse in completion of patient care activities, taking into consideration the patient's developmental levels. Demonstrates strong communication skills, accepts delegated tasks, and has the knowledge and understanding to ask questions and report patient information as indicated. Appropriately handles patient information understanding confidentiality and privacy. Complies with the safety management program designed to provide a physical environment free of hazards and to reduce the risk of injury. Is knowledgeable about and responsive to the mission of the hospital. The PCA promotes a patient and family experience-oriented environment and acts as a change agent to meet the rapidly changing census and needs of all customers-both internal and external. The PCA measures and records vital signs, intake, and output, assists patients with activities of daily living, and provides safe transportation and environment for patients.
