Job summary

Fairwold Academy in Fort Washington, PA, seeks a PBIS Coordinator to lead the implementation of PBIS policies within its Special Education program. This twelve-month position reports to the Executive Director and coordinates behavior-related data, program fidelity, and school-wide interventions.

Responsibilities include supporting teachers and students, maintaining SWIS data, and delivering PBIS training, with ongoing professional development in trauma-informed and restorative practices.

Qualifications

  • Three years' experience facilitating IEP meetings and/or working with students with disabilities.
  • Three years' experience providing behavior interventions or related services.
  • Knowledge of state and federal laws and rules about special education, including IDEA.
  • Knowledge and experience in writing IEPs, record reviews, and compliance regulations.
  • PA State Certification in Special Education (preferred).

  • Create and analyze behavior data and present bi-weekly progress reports.
  • Make program change recommendations based on data.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Overview

The PBIS Coordinator is a critical participant in the implementation of all policies and procedures related to the Special Education programs at Fairwold Academy. The PBIS Coordinator maintains relationships with teachers, staff, and administration concerning all behavior-related trends, issues, events, and data completion. The PBIS Coordinator will lead all activities, data maintenance, program modifications, and ensure program fidelity by all members of the Fairwold educational program. The PBIS Coordinator is a twelve-month position and reports to the Executive Director.

Responsibilities

  • Work with individual and small groups of students who have difficulty in meeting the behavioral requirements of the school.
  • Work with teachers to support students who need assistance with academic progress.
  • Dedicated to improving Fairwold Academy PBIS policy and implementing additional practices to improve the school culture for behavioral expectations and help the school community view PBIS as a tiered system of support.
  • Serve as the point person for enforcing behavioral expectations and implementing behavioral expectations and implementing PBIS/school consequences for our student population.
  • Serve as the point person for de-escalating students in crisis and helping them utilize coping strategies to self-regulate.
  • Provide educational classroom workshops to students on making good behavioral choices and understanding school-wide behavior expectations.
  • Visit and support teachers and staff members in behavioral and academic supports in the classroom.
  • Maintain SWIS data entry and establish an efficient communication system for school staff to be aware of disciplinary actions.
  • Support PBIS Tier I and building intervention team meetings.
  • Work with individuals and small groups of students who have difficulty in meeting the behavioral requirements of the school.
  • Create and implement behavior intervention plans to support students who are having difficulties in the instructional setting.
  • Serve as point person for families regarding student discipline and behavioral initiatives.
  • Commit to ongoing professional development in the areas related to PBIS, trauma-informed practices, restorative practices, mindfulness, and other approaches within the PBIS framework.
  • Meet and discuss disciplinary incidents and actions with parents and students.
  • Implement character education programs and activities for the student body and assemblies aligned with our PBIS expectations throughout the school year, promoting a positive school environment.
  • Ensure the integrity and validity of PBIS implementation.
  • As subject matter expert in conjunction with the Executive Director and the Director of Special Education, work with the Director of Education to create and provide training to teachers and related services providers in all areas of PBIS, data review, monitoring, and compliance to ensure the most complete documentation is provided for our students.
  • Create, maintain,n and analyze all behavior data for the school and present a bi-weekly report on progress of the PBIS program.
  • Make recommendations and follow through with program changes based on the behavior data.
  • Maintain all behavior data in the SWIS program.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Performance Requirements

  • Represents Fairwold Academy as a welcoming and premier educational environment to a diverse audience, including parents, clients, community, and other stakeholders, and participates in special education events as requested.
  • Maintains confidentiality with a wide variety of sensitive information including, but not limited to: manual and electronic files, documents and records, meeting notes, medical histories, and other identifying information.
  • Maintains accurate information for special education timelines, assists professionals with logistical and administrative support, communicates deadlines and procedural timeline recommendations for leadership.
  • Assists with the collection, compilation, and production of special education metrics requested by the Leadership team.
  • Provides training and technical support to all Fairwold staff members in the user functions of special education software programs and systems used to write IEP documents.

Experience:

Three (3) years' experience facilitating IEP meetings and/or working with students with disabilities, particularly those with autism, intellectual disabilities, and emotional issues as a teacher, school psychologist, or related services provider is required.

  • Three (3) years' experience providing behavior interventions or related services.
  • Knowledge of all state and federal laws and rules about special education, including the Individuals with Disabilities in Education Act (IDEA), is required.
  • Knowledge and experience in writing Individual Education Plans (IEPs), record reviews, and compliance regulations.
  • Background or experience in an Approved Private School for special education students or a public school special education setting strongly preferred.
  • Current Pennsylvania State Certification in Special Education or related field such as School Psychology or Educational Leadership preferred.

Education:

  • Master’s degree in education, Special Education,n or related field is required.
