The role requires handling confidential information with integrity, meeting weekly and monthly deadlines, and collaborating with HR and providers to resolve enrollment issues.

Qualifications

• Two to five years of payroll experience.
• Experience processing union and non-union payroll in the construction industry.
• Experience enrolling and changing employee benefits and payroll deductions preferred.
• Experience preparing and submitting certified payroll reports.
• Strong understanding of payroll principles, federal/state tax requirements, and general accounting fundamentals.

The Role:

TW Constructors is seeking a Payroll Specialist to join our accounting team. This position is responsible for the accurate and timely processing of weekly payroll for union and non-union employees across multiple companies. The role will also process employee benefit enrollments and changes, maintain payroll tax information, and prepare required tax and union reports.

Because this position handles sensitive employee, payroll, tax, and benefits information, the successful candidate must demonstrate a high level of integrity, confidentiality, accuracy, and attention to detail.

Responsibilities:

• Review timesheets and process weekly payroll for union and non-union employees across multiple companies
• Calculate wages, overtime, taxes, garnishments, child support, union dues, benefit deductions, and other payroll adjustments
• Prepare and submit certified payroll reports
• Respond to employee questions regarding payroll, tax withholdings, and benefit deductions
• Process new-hire benefit enrollments, qualifying life event changes, and benefit terminations
• Ensure benefit elections and deductions are accurately entered and reflected in the payroll system
• Coordinate with HR and benefit providers to resolve enrollment, coverage, or deduction discrepancies
• Support annual open enrollment by processing employee elections and reviewing benefit deductions for accuracy
• Enter and maintain employee federal, state, and local tax withholding information
• Prepare monthly union reports for all companies
• Prepare monthly and quarterly payroll tax reports for all companies
• Prepare annual payroll tax reports and W-2s for all companies
• Assist with researching and resolving payroll tax notices and discrepancies
• Support 401(k) administration, including contribution processing and related updates
• Create and distribute payroll, benefits, tax, and other reports for management
• Maintain accurate and confidential payroll, tax, and benefits records
• Perform general filing and data entry as required

Qualifications:

• Two to five years of payroll experience required
• Experience processing union and non-union payroll in the construction industry required
• Experience processing employee benefit enrollments, changes, terminations, and payroll deductions preferred
• Experience preparing and submitting certified payroll reports required
• Strong understanding of payroll principles, federal and state tax requirements, and general accounting fundamentals
• Multi-state payroll and tax experience preferred
• Associate or bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration, human resources, or a related field preferred
• Experience with payroll or accounting software; Sage and ComputerEase experience is a plus
• Strong Microsoft Excel skills
• Ability to handle confidential employee and company information with discretion
• Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
• Ability to manage competing priorities and meet recurring weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual deadlines
• High level of accuracy and attention to detail
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, growing organization
