Job summary

Cash Construction, a MasTec company, is seeking a Payroll Specialist to process weekly payroll using time capture systems and ensure SOX compliance. On-site in Texas, you will support Finance and Accounting teams and provide back-up coverage for front desk operations.

You will handle garnishments, quarterly payroll tax returns, and maintain master data while coordinating with HR and field personnel to resolve issues promptly.

Qualifications

• At least 2 years of accounting, payroll or related business experience.
• Knowledge of payroll taxes, SOX controls and payroll compliance.
• Experience with payroll system software.
• Bilingual ability is required.
• Experience with Viewpoint, Oracle, ADP, Power BI, Excel, B2W and Teams is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Data entry of timecards, proofing payroll data and resolving issues.
• Learn new payroll systems and methods in a construction setting.
• Communicate missing hours or cost codes with proper documentation.
• Maintain master file information and organize timecards.
• Provide excellent customer service to employees and supervisors about paychecks.
• Coordinate with HR to cross-reference information.

• Post payroll, equipment, job cost and GL weekly.

Overview

Cash Construction, a MasTec company, is currently hiring for a Payroll Specialist. This position is responsible for processing weekly payroll using a variety of time capture systems, remitting garnishments to outside agencies, processing quarterly payroll tax returns, and ensuring SOX compliance. The Payroll Specialist also supports Finance and Accounting functions and provides backup support to maintain consistent organizational services.

Responsibilities

• Fast and accurate data entry of timecards, including the ability to accurately proof pre-entered payroll data and follow-up with field personnel on any issues or inconsistencies.
• Ability to learn new systems and new methods of payroll process in a construction environment.
• Timely communication with field regarding missing hours, employees or cost codes, including obtaining proper documentation of those communication efforts.
• Ensure accurate and update master file information.
• Organize and maintain files and timecards digitally after each weekly payroll.
• Act as a resource who provides excellent customer service, either in-person or over the telephone, to employees and/or supervisors with questions or concerns about paychecks.
• Coordinate with the Human Resources department to ensure timely cross reference of information.
• Assist with quarterly payroll tax returns.
• Review deductions, benefits and 401(k) accuracy.
• Post Payroll, Equipment, Job Cost and GL weekly.
• Set up and remit garnishments and child support payments
• Assist the Payroll Supervisor and other team members with special projects, as needed
• Provide coverage and/or back up as needed for front desk receptionist

Qualifications

• Bilingual
• At least 2 years of accounting, payroll or related business experience required.
• Experience with Viewpoint, Oracle, ADP, Power BI, Excel, B2W, and Microsoft Teams preferred.
• Experience with payroll system software
• Prevailing wage experience a plus.
• Knowledge of payroll taxes, SOX controls and payroll compliance.
• Strong communication, analytical and organizational skills.
