Job description

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Payroll Specialist to join our client's team onsite. This role is responsible for processing multi-state payroll in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. The ideal candidate will ensure timely and accurate payroll delivery and have a strong understanding of payroll tax laws, deductions, and compliance requirements across various states.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Process end-to-end multi-state, bi-weekly/weekly/semi-monthly payroll for 6000+ employees.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations, wage and hour laws, and company policies.
  • Maintain accurate employee payroll records, including new hires, terminations, bonuses, garnishments, and deductions.
  • Prepare and file payroll tax reports, including quarterly and annual filings (e.g., 941s, W-2s, 1099s).
  • Coordinate with HR and Finance teams to ensure accurate benefits, deductions, and timekeeping data.
  • Reconcile payroll-related general ledger accounts and assist in month-end close processes.
  • Research and resolve payroll discrepancies and respond to employee inquiries regarding payroll issues.
  • Stay up to date on changes in payroll laws and regulations across multiple states.
  • Assist in audits, including internal, external, and governmental audits.
Qualifications:
  • 3+ years of payroll experience, with a strong focus on multi-state payroll processing.
  • Knowledge of payroll tax regulations at federal, state, and local levels.
  • Strong Excel skills and attention to detail.
  • ADP preferred
  • Excellent organizational and time-management abilities.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
