Job summary

Nebraska Methodist Health System is looking for an experienced payroll professional to ensure timely and compliant payroll processing for all employees. You will work closely with HR and Finance to resolve issues and optimize payroll operations.

The role requires a Bachelor's in a related field and at least five years of payroll experience, preferably in healthcare, with strong knowledge of laws and multi-state processing. CPP certification is preferred and Workday/Qgenda experience is valued.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of payroll experience, preferably in healthcare and physician compensation calculations.
  • Strong knowledge of payroll laws and regulations, including federal, state, and local tax laws.
  • Experience with multi-state payroll processing (preferred).
  • Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) certification (preferred).

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the end-to-end payroll process ensuring accurate and timely payment of employee salaries, wages, bonuses, and deductions.
  • Ensure payroll compliance with local, state, and federal regulations; produce and maintain accurate payroll records and reports, including tax filings, benefit deductions, garnishments, and other statutory deductions.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot payroll system (configuration, updates, scheduling, shift data synchronization).
  • Regularly audit payroll data to ensure accuracy, address discrepancies, and keep employee records up-to-date.
  • Collaborate with HR and Finance departments to resolve payroll-related issues and provide guidance and support to employees regarding payroll inquiries.
  • Oversee preparation of accurate and timely payroll tax filings, ensuring compliance with all applicable tax laws.
  • Recommend and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy of payroll processing.
  • Ensure accurate employee data entry into payroll systems and coordinate updates related to compensation, benefits, or tax withholding.
  • Train and mentor payroll team members, ensuring high levels of knowledge and proficiency in payroll best practices and system usage.

Job Summary

Location: Methodist Corporate Office, 825 S 169th St., Omaha, NE

Ensure timely and accurate processing of payroll for all employees, ensuring compliance with relevant laws and company policies.

Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of payroll experience, preferably in healthcare and physician compensation calculations.
  • Strong knowledge of payroll laws and regulations, including federal, state, and local tax laws.
  • Experience with multi-state payroll processing (preferred).
  • Experience with advanced features and configurations in Workday.
  • Knowledge of union payroll processes (preferred).
  • Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) certification (preferred).
Skills & Abilities
  • Expertise with payroll processing platforms; background with Workday and Qgenda preferred.
  • Proficiency in advanced Excel (pivot tables, lookups, indexes).
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
  • Strong communication skills to work with employees and cross‑functional teams.
  • Discretion and confidentiality when handling sensitive information.
Physical Requirements
