Job description

The Payroll Lead utilizes extensive payroll expertise, understanding industry practices and organizational policies to address highly complex issues involving data analysis and variable factors. The role involves interaction with senior internal and external personnel, with assignments given in the form of objectives, requiring resource management to meet schedules and goals. The Payroll Lead identifies risks, responds appropriately, and serves as a departmental lead, subject matter expert, or project manager. Responsibilities include recommending updates to business processes and procedures, and selecting methods and techniques for problem-solving. The role involves utilizing contacts within the payroll office, across the organization, and the UC System.

Key Responsibilities

1. Manage payroll-related services such as onboarding, off-boarding, oversight, auditing, time reporting, position management, personnel updates, and leave balances.
2. Coordinate with Human Resources and Academic Personnel to ensure timely and accurate processing and auditing of payroll, personnel, and financial transactions.
3. Ensure accurate data entry and oversight for biweekly and monthly payrolls for students, staff, and academic personnel.
4. Exercise independent judgment in interpreting regulations and policies related to payroll administration.
5. Maintain personnel and payroll records in accordance with retention policies.
6. Monitor UCPath inquiries, resolve complex payroll issues, and support payroll-related matters.
7. Provide data analytics for reporting and process improvement identification.

Additional Details

This position reports to the Payroll Director. The full salary range is $61,000 - $106,800 annually; the expected pay scale is $61,000 - $95,350, based on experience and qualifications.
