Job summary

Missouri State Public Defender (MSPD) is seeking a detail-oriented Payroll Specialist to support payroll and personnel processes across MSPD's statewide offices. The role handles semi-monthly payroll, employee inquiries about pay and leave, and confidential records maintenance.

The ideal candidate has payroll experience, strong communication, and the ability to work independently. Proficiency with MS Office, SAM II knowledge, and adaptability to MOVERS are valued as MSPD transitions systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or higher in business, accounting, or related field.
• Experience in payroll, banking, accounting, or similar work preferred.
• Knowledge of SAM II HR and/or SAM II Financial beneficial.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with managers and staff.

Responsibilities

• Process the department's semi-monthly payroll for statewide employees.
• Respond to employee questions about pay and leave.
• Maintain confidential personnel, payroll, and leave records.
• Process and audit timesheets for accuracy and compliance with policies.
• Adapt to system changes, including SAM II to MOVERS.
