Job Overview

We are excited to invite applications for the role of Payroll Director. As we continue to scale our operations across regions, this is a pivotal leadership role within our dynamic, international consulting firm. We’re seeking a strategic yet hands-on leader who can bring structure to ambiguity, drive efficiency, and modernize our payroll function for long-term scalability.

This role isn’t just about ensuring payroll runs on time - it’s about shaping and strengthening the systems, processes, and people that support a growing global business. You’ll oversee a team, enhance operational processes, and partner cross-functionally to ensure payroll excellence, compliance, and a seamless employee experience.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and support a team of two US based payroll professionals with a focus on coaching, development, and performance management.
  • Oversee and ensure accurate, timely processing of U.S. and international payrolls in accordance with country-specific regulations and schedules.
  • Drive the optimization and standardization of payroll processes, identifying and implementing best practices that improve efficiency and reduce manual effort.
  • Manage and ensure the integrity of payroll systems, including ADP Workforce Now and Deltek Costpoint, supporting accurate data flow, reporting, compliance and systems optimization.
  • Ensure timesheet processing, leave balance accuracy, and Costpoint journal entries meet company and regulatory standards.
  • Act as the payroll subject matter expert in cross-functional collaboration with HR, Benefits, Talent Acquisition, and Accounting teams.
  • Lead payroll-related compliance efforts, audits, and year-end processes including W-2s and tax filings.
  • Contribute to integration and transition planning during mergers and acquisitions, ensuring payroll continuity and system alignment.

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, accounting, or a related field preferred.
  • 10+ years of progressive payroll experience, with at least 3 years in a leadership or director-level role.
  • Proficiency in Deltek Costpoint and ADP Workforce Now is required.
  • Experience overseeing international payrolls strongly preferred.
  • A process-minded leader with the ability to scale operations, improve workflows, and build systems that support rapid growth.
  • Proven ability to lead through change and navigate ambiguity with a strategic, proactive mindset.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, deep knowledge of compliance requirements, and strong communication skills.

National Pay Range

$130,000 - $165,000 USD
