Job summary

University of California, Santa Barbara seeks a Payroll Analyst 2 to manage payroll administration, resolve errors, and support campus payroll operations at 3201 in Student Affairs & Admin Services.

The role requires 1–3 years of payroll/finance experience and a bachelor's degree or equivalent. The position offers full benefits and standard Monday–Friday, 8:00–5:00 work hours.

Qualifications

  • 1–3 years of payroll or finance experience.
  • Experience processing payroll for a small to medium business.
  • Experience responding to basic payroll inquiries.
  • Strong initiative, independence, good judgment, and problem-solving abilities.

Responsibilities

  • Manage payroll administration tasks, resolve payroll errors, maintain records, and handle a large caseload of requests.
  • Administer campus-wide work authorization program in accordance with USCIS regulations and university policies.
  • Provide training and support to campus payroll staff and other departmental users.
  • Assist with special projects, process improvement, and other duties as assigned.

Job Duties

The Payroll Analyst performs critical thinking, analytical, and problem‑solving tasks to research, analyze and resolve complex campus payroll and general ledger questions.

  • Manage payroll administration tasks, resolve payroll errors, maintain accurate records, and handle a large caseload of requests.
  • Administer campus‑wide work authorization program in accordance with USCIS regulations and university policies.
  • Provide training and support to campus payroll staff and other departmental users.
  • Assist with special projects, process improvement, and other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related area or equivalent experience/training.
  • 1‑3 years of payroll and/or finance experience.
  • Experience processing payroll for a small to medium‑size business.
  • Experience responding to basic payroll inquiries.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working in higher education or government.
