Payroll & Accounts Payable Coordinator

The Regional District of Kootenay Boundary (RDKB) is located in the southern interior of British Columbia and prides itself on providing smart, sustainable governance and services to its constituents throughout our 8,200 km2 region. The RDKB is currently seeking applications to fill a temporary, full-time Payroll & Accounts Payable Coordinator position in Trail, BC. Reporting to and under the supervision of the Accounting Manager, the Payroll & Accounts Payable Coordinator is responsible for coordinating payroll and accounts payable related tasks including paying employees and suppliers and assisting management with employee benefit and pension administration and Work Safe BC related tasks.

This is a 1 year full-time, benefitted contract position to provide coverage while the permanent incumbent is on parental leave. The RDKB offers a competitive compensation package that includes vacation and sick leave, wellness allowance, extended health benefits and disability insurance. This is a unionized position, making it entitled to overtime should additional hours be requested.

To be considered for this opportunity candidates must possess the following:

  • Post Secondary education consisting of a diploma in Business Administration or related field and/or the completion to the mid-level of an accounting accreditation program
  • Completion of the Payroll Compliance Practitioner Certification with the National Payroll Association
  • At least three years progressive experience in an accounting role with focus on payroll and accounts payable functions
  • Proficient in a Microsoft product environment, specifically Excel and Word
  • Proficient in accounting software, Vadim iCity considered an asset
  • Proficient clerical skills including formal correspondence experience
  • Possess the strong ability to pay attention to detail
  • Possess the desire and ability to apply required effort to meet deadlines
  • Ability to work effectively with other staff, other levels of government and their agents, elected officials and the public
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively
  • Ability to collaborate, problem solve, and be a team player
  • Commitment to excellent customer service
  • Must be bondable
