Job summary

Straive is seeking a Lead, Data Science & Data Engineering to drive end-to-end delivery on a long-running payments analytics program. You’ll lead ~5 practitioners, own solution design, and collaborate with client stakeholders to translate business goals into data-driven outcomes.

You'll contribute hands-on coding in Python and SQL, guide modelling and deployment, ensure governance of sensitive data, and help grow the practice with proposals and staffing in the San Francisco Bay Area.

Qualifications

• 6-8 years delivering data science projects for financial institutions.
• Python production-level proficiency for data science and engineering.
• SQL with large relational/analytical datasets.
• End-to-end delivery ownership with measurable outcomes.
• Experience leading a team and managing delivery commitments.
• Strong communication; engaging senior stakeholders.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s in CS/Engineering/Math or equivalent.
• Authorization to work in the United States and onsite SF Bay Area.

Responsibilities

• Delivery leadership: scoping, planning, and execution of data workstreams; on-time, high-quality delivery.
• Team management: lead ~5 data scientists and data engineers; allocate work and mentor.
• Stakeholder partnership: liaison to client and partner stakeholders; translate goals into analytical solutions.
• Solution design: end-to-end data ingestion, pipelines, modelling, and deployment over large datasets.
• Hands-on contribution: write/review production-grade Python and SQL; set standards.
• Modelling & analytics: develop segmentation, propensity, forecasting, and anomaly signals for payments.
• Governance: ensure data privacy, security, and governance for regulated data.
• Practice growth: assist estimation, staffing, and proposals; expand engagement scope.
