Job summary

Savista helps healthcare providers improve revenue cycle performance while delivering quality patient care and positive experiences. We seek a Payment Variance AR Specialist to drive payer disputes, recoveries, and resolution of contract-related issues within our AR team.

You will collaborate across departments, analyze complex discrepancies, and pursue root-cause improvements to maximize reimbursements. Strong communication and MS Office skills are essential for success in this role.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate degree or 1–2 years of managed care reimbursement experience is required.
• Strong self-motivation; able to work autonomously and in cross-functional teams.
• Proficiency with MS Office; excellent communication and organizational skills.
• Ability to build relationships and execute best-practice solutions with internal and external stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Work with the Payment Variance AR team to initiate payer disputes and monitor inventory to resolution.
• Pursue additional reimbursement for issues like contractual discrepancies and discounting.
• Communicate recovery impacts and dispute reasons clearly using contract terms and account details.
• Proactively inform leadership and stakeholders about status of inventory and blockers.
• Develop working knowledge of workflow platforms used to manage and resolve inventory.

Role and Responsibilities

• This position works closely with the Payment Variance Audit team to initiate payer disputes and follow inventory through to resolution.
• The Payment Variance AR Specialist works to recover additional reimbursement due to issues such as: contractual payment discrepancy, inappropriate discounting, contract term enforcement, billing/charge integrity, and other revenue improvement initiatives identified.
• Use both written and verbal communication to maintain timely follow-up on open inventory.
• Effectively communicate reimbursement impact and reason for dispute by knowledgeably speaking about contract terms and account details.
• Proactively initiate an open line of communication with leadership and key stakeholders on status of inventory and any roadblocks identified.
• Gain working knowledge of all relevant workflow platforms used to effectively manage and resolve inventory.

Qualifications and Education Requirements

• Undergraduate Degree or 1-2 years of experience working with managed care reimbursement and contracts
• Self-motivated and able to work both autonomously and as part of a cross functional team
• Proficiency with MS Office
• Excellent interpersonal, communication and organizational skills
• Must be reliable, responsible, goal oriented, and flexible
• Adapts to change, is open to new ideas, takes on new responsibilities, handles pressure, adjusts plans to meet changing needs
• Meets assigned deadlines and proactively solicits feedback, acting on constructive criticism

Preferred Skills

• Familiar with ICD-9/ICD-10, CPT Coding, revenue codes, UB and 1500 billing formats
• Strong leadership skills
• Prior experience in account/dispute resolution process, preferably in healthcare
• Experience with nThrive Contract Management and/or Collections Management, Epic, Meditech, Cerner, Invision, Paragon, Soarian, STAR, NextGen, AllScripts
• Experience working with or for a hospital/hospital system across a range of diverse business functions and/or organizational entities
