Job summary

Apex is seeking a Mechanisms Engineer, Payloads to design, develop, and test payload deployment and articulation mechanisms for satellite buses. You will own mechanism hardware from concept through flight, focusing on reliable operation in space.

Join a fast-growing aerospace team in Playa Vista, collaborating with cross-functional groups to perform 3D CAD, GD&T, and testing, while supporting manufacturing and supplier resolution.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering or related field.
• 3+ years designing and developing mechanical hardware.
• Proficiency in CAD software (NX/SolidWorks).
• Strong understanding of mechanical design fundamentals, GD&T, and tolerance analysis.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop payload deployment and articulation mechanisms.
• Own mechanism hardware from concept through design, manufacture, integration and test.
• Develop 3D CAD models, drawings, tolerance analyses, and GD&T.
• Perform hand calculations to evaluate loads, kinematics, stiffness, life and performance.
• Select and integrate motors, bearings, springs, fasteners and actuators.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate mechanisms with spacecraft.
