Duties and/or Responsibilities:



  • Uses safe work procedures that comply with safety policies and regulations. (Federal, state, local and company policies).

  • Perform daily equipment, walk around and site inspections to identify and correct any unsafe conditions and keep equipment properly maintained.

  • Safely and properly perform maintenance on paving machine.

  • Safely and properly operate adjusting mechanism of paving machine. Bolts extensions to screed to adjust width as needed.

  • Heat screed at beginning of shift.

  • Observes distribution of paving material along screed and controls direction of screed.

  • Clean screed at end of shift.

  • Communicate effectively (verbal, listening, written) and work with difficult people under high stress situations. Self-motivated, team-player with good interpersonal skills; ability to maintain positive customer relations and act courteous/respectful of others.

  • Troubleshoot and problem solve situations/problems (material quality, equipment operation/repair, etc.). Monitor and discuss production problems with co-workers and managers/supervisors.

  • Ensure OSHA, EPA, DNR, safety and environmental regulation compliance.

  • Job requires steady to intermittent and repetitive physical activity including: standing, stooping, kneeling, climbing, walking on uneven ground, lifting, carrying, pushing, shoveling, and raking.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.


Minimum Qualifications:




  • One year or more experience operating screed equipment
    -Has knowledge of the aspects of paving operations
    -A high school diploma or general education degree (GED) is preferred


    -Valid driver's license
    -Must be able to work day shifts and night shifts. Shifts may vary according to project demands


    -Must be able to work in all weather conditions


    -Must be willing to travel if job requires


    -Must pass a pre-employment drug screen
