Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent with pattern maker apprenticeship and 5 years of experience.
• Experience reading blueprints and performing shop math.
• Ability to operate and set up a range of machining equipment and CAM/CNC tooling.

Responsibilities

• Lays out and constructs complex models and molds using blueprints, master patterns and models to build molds, tooling and cavities.
• Plans sequence of operations.
• Inter prets CAM files, programs CNC machines and prep CAD files using three axis CAM software.
• Sets up and operates lathes, drills, mills and CNC machines as required.
• Maintains tooling wear checks and performs routine machine maintenance.

Job description

Armstrong has an opening for a Pattern Maker I F/T on first shift. Armstrong Rapid Manufacturing has been in business for over 50 years in the East Syracuse NY area. Armstrong specializes in both prototyped and low volume production machined castings. The salary range for our Pattern Maker I job is $32.00-$38.00 per hour.

Pattern Maker I Responsibilities

• Lays out and constructs complex models and molds using blueprints, master patterns and models to build molds, rubber resin tooling, determine joints and parting, add draft filets and radii, etc.
• Plans sequence of operations
• Using three axis CAM software, interprets files, programs CNC machines and prep CAD files
• Sets up and operates a wide variety of machinery such as lathes, drills, milling machines, CNC machines, etc. as required
• Grinds, files and sands parts for assembly of a smooth and finished cavity
• Rigs molds as required
• Builds fixtures and templates
• Monitors tooling for wear and breakage and replaces as necessary.
• Performs routine machine maintenance.
• Adds stock to models to allow for machining tolerances
• Coaches and trains employees as requested
• Meets quality and quantity standards for the position.
• Proactively supports the ISO process approach to quality management and the Syteline MIS system.
• Adheres to all safety policies and practices, consistently uses personal protective equipment and practices good housekeeping.
• Maintains regular on time attendance and adheres to company policies, procedures, and standards of conduct.
• Maintains a positive professional approach with all internal and external customers.
• Applies classroom and on the job post training information, knowledge, skills, and abilities consistently in a quality-oriented manner (wherein the KSAs are part of the jobs tasks, duties and other tasks as requested).
• Performs other tasks as directed.

Educational, Experience Based, and Skill Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent or Trade School graduate with training in shop math, blueprint reading and machine set-up and Completion of a Pattern Maker apprenticeship and five (5) years of experience.

Physical Requirements

Must be able to lift up to and including 35 pds as needed.
