Job summary

NYS Office for People With Developmental Disabilities is seeking a Safety and Security Officer to patrol agency facilities, respond to emergencies, and ensure a safe environment for individuals and staff. Duties include inspections, incident reporting, and assisting with safety training.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 1 year of patrol/inspection experience preferred.
• Citizen and NYS resident; background check and agility test may be required.

Responsibilities

• Perform security patrols on foot or by vehicle to deter crime and detect irregularities.
• Inspect buildings to ensure doors and access points are secure and hazards are minimized.
• Maintain radio, PA, or telephone communications for routine and emergencies.
• Direct vehicular and pedestrian traffic as needed and enforce laws and regulations.
• Respond to incidents, prepare reports, and assist in emergencies including first aid.
• Conduct safety inspections of facilities and equipment in compliance with codes.
• Provide information and directions to visitors; respond to inquiries and testify in court when required.
