Qualifications

• High school diploma or an associate degree is preferred.
• Current Law Enforcement Certificate (CJSTC) issued by Florida.
• Must be a U.S. citizen and pass a background check.
• Must have a valid Florida driver’s license or obtain within 30 days.
• Minimum age 19; polygraph and drug screen required; physical exam.
• Veteran with general discharge considered.

Responsibilities

• Patrols assigned area by vehicle, exercising care in emergency situations.
• Responds to calls for assistance and interviews witnesses to maintain order.
• Monitors, receives and transmits information via radio, phone and computer.
• Loads and discharges firearms during training and when justified by policy and law.
• Provides information and services verbally and in writing.
• Reads regulations and policies to stay informed on law enforcement activities.
• Prepares legible, accurate reports and sketches.
• Conducts searches for weapons, contraband, or evidence.
• Testifies in court or legal proceedings.
• Initiates and assists in arrests when elements are met and per policy.
